The President Welcomes Relatives of Injured Guard Personnel to the White House

Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the executive mansion.

He noted that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Devastating Shooting

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have taken place in their memory.

White House Offer

The president said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told journalists. “And likewise with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Community members came together over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” the principal, the leader of her former high school, stated to the press. “She was sweet, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Service plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Revisions

Law enforcement have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the Trump administration to pause asylum processing and cease granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she aimed to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had courage,” he informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
