The network's Top New Show of 2025 Secures a Major Extension for Two More Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, not long after, the channel introduced a brand-new animated series with a markedly softer feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be heartwarming and calm, reminiscent of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. During a period often characterized by cynicism, this show's sincerity found an audience and propelled it a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two more seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to further explore the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three polite teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters.

"I’m so grateful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

A President's Endorsement

The official statement also included laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He specifically highlighted the fans who embraced the show and supported its distinctly quirky sensibility.

"All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to other adult animated fare. It offers something unexpectedly cozy about observing this charming family navigate their simple existence.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa stated his goal to help comedy break out of its current sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we are trapped in,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa could potentially help usher in that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to bask in the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
