Salah Issues Statement to Liverpool Dressing Room, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the controversy from his televised remarks.
The Incident
He was omitted from a European match following voicing frustrations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The head coach has chosen not to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the team's response was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “I understand there are specific approaches you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
Team Form
The team's performance have been impressive in the matches since the interview fallout. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “It's behind us and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and securing victories.”
