Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a challenging season, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the Rome competition and first on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his ability to play at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional championship, took control to push for a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early-game chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
