Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his position following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant support from management,” the coach stated.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell such as this with results this poor.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
